KSA (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities)

A framework used primarily in government job applications to show qualifications.

KSA stands for Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities — a three-part framework commonly used in US federal government job applications on USAJobs. Each KSA statement is a short paragraph explaining how your experience meets a specific required qualification.

Private-sector job seekers don't usually write KSA statements — they write a normal resume with bullet points. But for federal jobs, you'll often need to submit KSAs as a separate document or as narrative answers within the USAJobs application. Each KSA should be specific, measurable, and tied to concrete examples.

Example: A KSA for "Ability to manage complex projects" might read: "Managed a $2.4M agency rebranding project involving 5 contractors and 3 internal teams, delivered on time and 8% under budget."
