Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 4, 2026
Resume88 is a free resume builder. We built it to need as little of your data as possible — your resume lives in your own browser, our analytics are anonymous, and we never sell your information.
- Your resume is saved in your browser, not on our servers — until you choose to download it.
- When you download a PDF, we keep a copy of the resume’s content (without your photo) so we can review and respond — deleted after 90 days.
- We collect anonymous usage analytics (page views, device, approximate country). We don’t store your IP address.
- We use a few trusted services (storage, payments, ads, contact). We never sell your data.
- You can ask us to delete your data any time via the contact form.
1. Who we are
Resume88 (“we”, “us”) operates the website at www.resume88.com and its free resume-building tools. This policy explains what data we process and why. If you have questions, reach us through the contact form on our homepage.
2. Your resume content
As you build a resume, everything you type (and any photo you add) is stored locally in your browser using localStorage. It is not transmitted to us while you edit, and it stays on your device. You can wipe it any time using the “clear saved data” option on the homepage, or by clearing your browser storage.
When you click download to export your PDF, we save a snapshot of the resume’s content to our database so we can review submissions, improve the product, and respond if you contacted us. This snapshot includes the text fields (such as your name, email, phone, job title, and resume sections) but excludes the photo. These snapshots are automatically deleted after 90 days.
3. Analytics we collect
To understand how the site is used, we record anonymous events such as page views, resume builds, and downloads. With each event we may store:
- A random, non-identifying visitor ID and session ID (stored in your browser) to count unique visitors and active sessions;
- Device type, browser, and operating system;
- The page you’re on and the referring site (where you came from);
- Your approximate location (country and city) derived from your IP address at the network edge. We do not store your IP address itself, and we don’t determine precise/GPS location.
If your browser sends a “Do Not Track” signal, we skip the location lookup entirely.
4. Cookies & local storage
We use browser localStorage to save your in-progress resume and the anonymous visitor/session IDs above. These are essential to how the tool works.
If advertising is enabled, our advertising and partner providers (see below) may set cookies to measure and personalize ads. Where required by law (e.g. the EU/UK and California), we ask for your consent before non-essential cookies are set, and you can change your choice at any time.
5. Third-party services
We rely on a small number of reputable providers, each of which processes only what it needs:
- Supabase — hosts our database (analytics events and download snapshots).
- Stripe — processes optional donations. Payments happen on Stripe’s secure page; we never see or store your card details.
- Web3Forms — delivers messages you send through our contact form.
- Anthropic (Claude) — if you use an optional AI writing feature, the relevant resume text you choose to improve is sent to Anthropic’s API to generate suggestions. It is used only to return your result.
- Geolocation — approximate country/city is derived from your IP via our hosting edge network, with public IP-geolocation services (ipwho.is, geojs.io) as a fallback.
- Google AdSense (when ads are enabled) — serves ads on our content pages and may use cookies. See Google’s advertising policies.
- Affiliate & job partners — when you click a partner link, that partner may set its own cookies and apply its own privacy policy.
6. Affiliate disclosure
Some links on Resume88 — for example “find jobs,” resume-review, or course recommendations shown after you download — are affiliate or partner links. If you click one and sign up or purchase, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. This helps keep Resume88 free. We only feature services we believe are genuinely useful to job seekers.
7. Advertising & your choices
We may show ads on our content pages (blog, examples, glossary, tools) — never inside the resume builder itself. Advertising partners may use cookies to serve relevant ads. You can manage ad personalization through Google’s Ad Settings or opt-out tools such as YourAdChoices and Your Online Choices (EU).
8. How we use data
We use the information above to operate and improve the service, understand usage trends, respond to your messages, process donations, prevent abuse, and comply with the law. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share your resume content with advertisers.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live (e.g. under the GDPR or CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. To exercise any of these, contact us via the contact form and we’ll act on verified requests promptly. Because most of your data lives in your browser, you can also delete it yourself at any time by clearing your saved data.
10. Data retention
Download snapshots (which may contain personal data) are deleted after 90 days. Anonymous analytics events are retained for up to 180 days. Data stored in your browser remains until you clear it.
11. Children
Resume88 is intended for job seekers and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we’ll remove it.
12. International transfers
Our providers may process data in countries other than yours, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves. We’ll revise the “last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice.
14. Contact
Questions or requests about your privacy? Use the contact form on our homepage and we’ll get back to you.
