Power Words

Strong action verbs that make your resume more specific and memorable.

Power words are strong, specific verbs and phrases that make a resume sound active, confident, and specific. They're usually contrasted with weak filler words like "responsible for," "helped with," or "assisted." Using power words turns vague bullet points into memorable achievements.

Power words are most effective when paired with a measurable outcome. "Spearheaded" is a power word, but "Spearheaded a cross-functional initiative that reduced customer churn from 12% to 4% in 18 months" is what actually impresses recruiters. Use variety — don't repeat the same verb more than twice across your resume.

Example: Instead of "Worked on product launches," try "Orchestrated four major product launches totaling $4.2M in first-year revenue."
