ATS-Friendly Resume
A resume formatted so that Applicant Tracking Systems can parse it correctly.
An ATS-friendly resume is one that's been formatted to parse cleanly through Applicant Tracking Systems — the software most mid-to-large companies use to filter applications. It uses standard section headings, a single-column layout, simple bullet points, and keyword-matched content from the job description.
The key principles: avoid tables, text boxes, images, headers/footers, and decorative fonts. Use standard section names like "Experience," "Education," and "Skills" (not "My Journey" or "Where I've Worked"). Export as a text-based PDF so the ATS can select the text. Use keywords from the job description verbatim, without stuffing. Most importantly, write in the same language the ATS is scanning for.
