Recruiter

The person (internal or external) who sources and screens candidates.

A recruiter is a person who finds and screens candidates for open jobs. Recruiters can be internal (employed by the company doing the hiring) or external (working at a staffing agency or headhunting firm). They're typically the first human to see your resume, and their job is to pass the most promising candidates to the hiring manager.

Recruiters spend an average of 6 to 8 seconds on their first scan of a resume. They're not reading carefully; they're looking for pattern matches against the job requirements. That's why clarity, keyword matching, and a strong summary matter so much. A good first impression gets a second, deeper read.

Example: A senior recruiter at a tech company might review 50 to 200 resumes per day during active hiring. Your resume has to stand out in a pile, fast.
